Spring Cleaning and Squirrel Food

Today was our chill-out day! We stayed home and did things around the house. Evan helped me with some Spring cleaning (which I don't normally do but for some reason felt motivated today - just long enough).

We worked on the kitchen cabinets which tuned out well. And now Danny and I get to spend the next 7 years tyring to figure out the new system!

Here are some before and after photos

Just in case my days weren't crazy enough...Danny decided to show Evan how to climb up on his top bunk last night. I can either give in or listen to the whining all afternoon. Today we did both! Evan climbed up and down about a dozen times and then started throwing toys off the top (definitely against the "rules" we covered in the beginning) and wouldn't come down off the bunk...SO, the ladder went up and we cried for a while.

Evan also decided to eat an orange "all 'Evan-self'. He peeled it, ate it, and then decided we must go outside and give the orange peel to the birds and squirrels...do they eat orange peel??

So - that's what we did.

We'll see if they eat them or not.

My Worst Nightmare!

I have actually done that thing that I thought for sure I would never do...what hope is there for everything else?

Since the day Evan began crawling I have had horrible visions of him (and then Caitlin) falling down the basement stairs. Figures that our daredevil wild-child never even came close.

Wait...can you see where this is headed? You might want to start preparing yourself now...

Yesterday afternoon Caitlin woke up from her nap while I was on the phone so I brought her out to play in the living room. Apparently, the basement door wasn't closed (I had been down there earlier) and she crawls at something just below mach 5...so as you might have guessed by now...she fell down the basement stairs.

Just breathe....take a minute for that to sink in!

The rug at the bottom cushioned her head enough to avoid any serious injury. We went to the ER nearby and they checked her out and said she's fine (aside from a terribly distracted and distraught mother and a few bumps and bruises).

You can imagine that has been playing over and over in my head all day!

We'll take some pictures of the evidence and relish in the fact that we can always blame her quirkiness on "that time she fell on her head!"

Happy Easter

We got up Easter morning so we could have our first family Easter Egg Hunt. We discovered Evan likes to get "monies" (smart kid, huh?) in his Easter eggs while we were at Grandma and Grandpa McCain's the week before. So we put money in many of them and jelly beans in the rest (yes, that's all he got!). He has a train bank that was a gift from Grandma McKee at his baby shower. We just recently started showing him what it was for and better yet...what it does! So, of course, every SINGLE coin he got was put in the bank one at a time so he could hear the full version of "I've been workin' on the railroad".

It was still before breakfast so I was trying to keep the suger monster at bay for at least a few hours by snatching up the jelly beans before he could eat them ALL! It became quite a contest, let me tell you.
Easter morning after church Grandma and Grandpa Barton came by to visit before dinner. You won't actually see Evan or Tyler in any of these photos because when they are together there is no sitting still! The adorable baby bunny was able to freeze Miss Nick for a minute (but that's it)!

Then (after a much needed nap) we were off to Grandma Glass' house for dinner and to visit with the rest of the family! The kids were so cute with Connor we couldn't resist taking a few photos (even though by the time we actually got them all in one place NO ONE was particularly happy about it)! Oh, yeah...Caitlin was alternately kissing/hugging and pushing Connor away!

Before we left Kerry was sure to torture Evan a little - just in time for my "I had hoped for a nice quiet ride home -- instead I get two screaming kids for 20 minutes" drive.
