I wish I had this on video...it's pretty funny!
Evan's head is so stinkin' big that very few of his shirts fit over it without getting stuck! Every morning when we get dressed I have to think about this for a couple reasons...First, he HATES taking the tight ones off at night and I sometimes have to hear about it in the morning, too! Second, if we are going out in public I try to dress him in something that fits and is weather appropriate. We have several hand me downs we can wear but are "ginormous" once they are over that big noggin.
Of course when Daddy's here at night it's usually a great game, in the mornings when it's just me he screams!
So - many days we are left wearing the too tight shirts that fit in the body which inevitably have to come off at night. Below are some photos of him one evening last week trying to get one of those shirts off.

"Paying Paydo"
Evan LOVES playdough and moon sand. I think I hear "Evan pay paydo" about three times a day. I don't always feel like getting it out because it ALWAYS ends up in his mouth, and on the floor (and in other places that surprise me). But when we do get it out I usually end up making some little animal or scene for him.
Adorable innocent penguin I made for Evan :)
Evan squashing my penguin!
Perfect little snowman - I left the room so I wouldn't have to see him get squashed!

Like Mother, Like Daughter :)
Danny's been saying for a while now that Caitlin is going to be a talker but I wasn't really buying it...until yesterday.
She wasn't napping so I brought her to the kitchen with me while I got some things ready for dinner and pureed some peaches for her. So - while I'm pureeing she's babbling so loudly that I can hear her over the processor and this goes on for nearly an hour! Oh my gosh she was loud and persistent.
Sometimes Evan even wakes up from his nap saying "Cay-Cay loud, wake Evan up".
Danny is in trouble. Two of us and only one of him...and I wouldn't say Evan is reserved either!

When No means Yes!
It's amazing how one little word can create such negative feelings!
It was so wonderful when Evan didn't know the word "no". That wasn't all that long ago (maybe a month or two). Now all I hear all day long is "no"...he says it in his mad voice and in his silly voice and in his matter of fact voice.
What's really funny is when he says it just because it's the first word that comes to mind - like, when he's in T.O. for refusing to help pick up the five tubs of train toys he threw on the floor for the third time today and never touched, and he's saying (through big pitiful tears and sobs) "Evan pick up trains" and I ask him "are you ready to help pick up your toys now"... he says "NO" or "are you ready for your snack..."NO".
It still drives me a little crazy to hear that constant defiance even though I know he's really stating more of a fact that he doesn't want to rather than telling me he's not going to do it.
Really...who's in charge here??

Are there ducks in my house??
In the pre-dawn hours of morning I awoke to hear QUACKING DUCKS!!!
Evan got a "Lucky Ducks" game from Grandma Barton last night and apparently he really likes it. He turned it on the minute he got out of bed and it went on and on and on all morning.
The ducks will be finding a new place to sleep tonight (preferrably closer to the sky!)

Daddies worry too!
I can't tell you how endearing it is to see Dad worry!
Evan woke up around 10pm last night crying. This is unusual but not entirely out of character. What typically happens is that he will wake up crying and come out to see us. Last night he was crying (one of those "you know something's wrong" cries) and didn't get up so Danny went in to see what was wrong and was in there for what seemed like a long time to me, with Evan still wimpering (which is unusual).
I went in to see what was wrong and I could tell Danny was concerned - he said Evan was acting a little strange and we didn't know if it was a bad dream or maybe he didn't feel good...his arm fell asleep??? Who knows! He sat on the bed and held him for a bit.
Eventually he lay back to down and we chalked it up to being half-asleep and whatever other mystery thing happened, but Danny still had to check on him before he could go to bed.
Isn't that sweet? To Mom that's the most endearing quality in Dad! Tough exterior with a soft-heart :)
